Mr. Bean goes shopping

I used this video to introduce the use of some modal verbs such as  “must ” for obligation, “mustn’t” for prohibition, and “should/shouldn’t”  for giving advice. It was also very useful to revise “shopping vocabulary”. First we all enjoyed watching it and then, I told them to work in groups of 4/5 people. Each group had to discuss and work on one of these assignaments:

1-Rules: imagine you are the owner of the shopping centre. Make a list of rules all customers have to follow. Use “must”.

2-Prohibition: now, after watching Mr. Bean while shopping, you have to write a sign saying what must be forbidden. Use: mustn’t.

3-Giving advice: imagine you are a mother/father, your son/daughter is going shopping to “La Marina shopping centre”. You have to give your children some shopping advice before going shopping. Use: “should/shouldn’t”.

4-Dialogue: Mr. Bean has finally decided to buy something and to speak. Write a shopping dialogue between Mr. Bean and a shopping assistant with any item that has appeared in the video.
