New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Day again. Now it is the best time to reflect on the changes we want to make, though I believe these promises can be made any day. Any time is the right time to decide eating right, getting fit, saving money, helping others, quitting bad habits, or why not enjoying life to the fullest or spending time with family and friends? Being realistic is an important factor, so “winning the lottery” is out of our grasp. Resolutions are set in one day, but accomplished in a hundred tiny steps that happen throughout the year, so be patient my friends. As they say “easier said than done”. My favorites? Spending quality time with my loved ones, and trying to live every day as it were my last because I know one of these days it will be… so thanks a lot to you all who make a difference in my life and make each day count. I wish you all a Happy New Year! Love ya!

Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

~Hal Borland

Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.

~Benjamin Franklin
New Year’s eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.

~Hamilton Wright Mabie

New Year’s Day:  Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions.  Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual

~Mark Twain

13 Phrases for Living, Márquez

Ernest Hemingway, quotes

Ernest HemingwayI like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.

Never go on trips with anyone you do not love.

I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.

My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

Smile please

A smile costs nothing and yet produces a lot. It gives new heart to those who are down. It cannot be bought, nor loaned, nor stolen, for it is a thing which has value only the moment it is given. The memory it leaves sometimes lasts forever.

Words

Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.

Nathaniel Hawthorne
